The Primary Pack

This has been quite a while in the making... I'm excited to introduce you to The Primary Pack!  We are a group of teachers who are passionate about teaching young children and we are going to be working together to share a ton of great ideas that you can use with your own students.  :)

If this is your first time stopping by my blog, let me introduce myself.

Hi!  I'm Jamie.  I have been teaching 3-5 year olds since 2005 when I decided to leave my 2nd grade position in the public schools to open a small, private preschool.  At the time I had 2 little kids and I was really struggling with the work-home balance.  I was torn between wanting to be a great teacher and needing to be a great (or at least adequate, present, happy) mom and wife too.  When I opened Play to Learn I expected it to be a temporary fix until my kids entered school and I could go back to my job.  My master's degree is in Reading Education, so I had plans to seek a Reading Specialist position.  Something happened, though, very soon after my first preschoolers started school... I couldn't imagine myself teaching anything else.  I have found my true passion.

My husband, Joe, and I have been married for 15 years.  We dated for 6 years before that, and believe it or not we went to elementary school together.  He's so patient and supportive of my preschool endeavors.  Without trying to sound sappy-- there is no way that Play to Learn would be successful if he wasn't behind me 100%.

Remember those 2 little kids I mentioned?  They both attended Play to Learn and are now in 5th and 6th grade.  We had 2 more daughters who both attended Play to Learn as well.  My youngest one is in Pre-K and I am trying to convince her not to go to kindergarten next year so that she can just stay with me again.  I don't think she's buying it and I'm going to miss having one of my own children in class next year.
OK, enough about me... how about a prize for visiting The Primary Pack?  To celebrate our new collaborative adventure, The Primary Pack is hosting a giveaway with tons of fabulous prizes!

    1. I'd love to help in any way I can! Juggling 2 kids and working full-time is so difficult. I'm glad that you are able to do a little something different.
