In the past month, we used the light table to work on our names. The students each have a transparency with their names written in permanent marker. They use clear pony beads to trace the letters.
These links from the dollar store are still some of their favorites. I love that the older pre-k students decided to make a pattern without any prompting from the teachers.
We found these colorful transparent bowls at our local party store. The students have been exploring with them for a week-- turning them right side up and upside down. At the end of the week, they experimented with stacking them in a tower. It took a lot of coordination and patience!
When Preschool Inspirations posted these fall counting activities, I hurried off to Target's dollar spot to buy the fall table scatter for our light table. There were three different types-- leaves, flowers and acorns-- which worked perfectly for a sorting activity. The three-section serving dishes are from the dollar store.
Math and fine motor skills are all wrapped into one fun activity.
When I'm searching for great light table ideas, I head straight to the Ultimate Light Table Guide pinterest board. It's the best place for amazing light table inspiration!
Have fun playing and learning with your children today.
Thanks for posting about this! I read a review on Amazon that there was a problem with the electrical cord and they needed to duct tape it in place. Are you experiencing this problem? I love your preschool! so inspiring:)
ReplyDeleteHi Trisha,
DeleteThanks for stopping by the blog! No, we've not had any problems with the electrical cord at all. I have it tucked under the table so that the kids don't play with it, but there haven't been any problems. We've been very happy with it. :)
My sister runs a very successful preschool in her basement. She loves teaching, and she loves the kids, but right before school started she found out she is expecting twins. She has been terribly sick, and teaching five days a week has been a real challenge. I am going to show her this awesome blog! She would love a little help getting her lessons ready!
