Process Art for Autumn

It's the beginning of the year, which means we are still spending a lot of time doing things like "Learning how to use a glue stick."  Process art is a great way to give my students lots of chances to practice, without worrying that project will turn out perfectly.  (Who likes perfect preschool art, anyway!??)

Here are a few process art projects that we have been working on this month:

We call this one the Picasso Project.  It is so simple, but the results are impressive!  The students have a supply of circles, in fall colors, and strips of brown paper.  They can glue them however they would like on the paper!

When they are finished, we trim any pieces that are off the edge of the paper.  Look at the results!

Another great process art piece is a Fall Tree.  To make this one, we trace the students' arms on a large piece of paper.  The students then color them brown to represent a tree trunk and branches.

When the trunk is ready, they glue on leaf cut-outs.  (I purchased a leaf punch at the arts & crafts store last winter on clearance.  Score!)

The projects turned out great.  I *think* that everyone has the hang of using a glue stick, and they were all very proud of their work.  That's a win in my book!
