We are hunkering down for another big snow storm here in Virginia. They have already closed school for tomorrow (our 10th snow day this year) and I am sure we will be off on Friday as well. Poor Betsy gets so cold in the winter! Look at this adorable hat and scarf ensemble that one of my parents made for her. I mean, really! How cute does she look?!?!
I love using Betsy in class. She brings in that little bit of magic that just makes preschool a special, wonderful place to be. The students hug her and talk to her like she is another member of our class. Betsy has been telling us all month that she does not like winter. The hat and scarf helped, but she doesn't have snow boots. So when the forecast called for a big snow yesterday she migrated to Florida, where she can relax on the beach and sip lemonade.
Of course, we couldn't leave her mailbox empty! When the students arrived today, they found Ollie the Owl had come for a visit. Little Ollie is a shy, soft-spoken bird who vacations in Betsy's mailbox for a week or two each winter.
I loved the look of surprise on the students' faces as they got to know her today. Preschool is a beautiful, magical place!
