Road Tape

Our transportation unit this month is a big hit!  All of the students seem to love it, and practically every center in the classroom has taken on a transportation theme.  One of their favorite new additions is Road Tape.
We made a big road around our hardwood floor area.  The students added street signs and wooden trees.  They also drew houses and other buildings to go around the road.
At the literacy center, we used the road tape to make a few letter shapes on the table.  I just picked letters that were easy to make with tape (no curves) and that appear in many of their names.  Simple as that!
We added a basket of vehicles-- cars, trains, trucks and planes.  As soon as they saw it, the students got to work!
I loved all the transportation noises that they made while tracing the letters.  Many of our students are working on correct letter formation.  Having a big shape to trace, and the ability to move and use their gross motor muscles has been very helpful.

Have fun playing and learning with your children today!
