Sensory Table Sight Words

Every month our sensory table is filled with something new.  In February, it contains red and white rice.  I was inspired by this post by my friend KTeacherTiff.  She uses sensory tables in her kindergarten classroom to practice sight words.  How fantastic is that?
Of course the first thing the students do when exploring a new sensory table is scoop it, pour it, touch it, bury their arms in it, etc.
After a few minutes they discovered the foam hearts on the bottom of the table.  We've been working on 10 basic sight words with our Pre-K kiddos.  As soon as they pulled they hearts out, they said, "like!  I found like!"
"Can!  I found can!" Then they re-buried the words and found them over and over again.  It was such a fun and playful way to practice.

Have a great day playing and learning with your children today.
