Halloween Books & Fun

Here's a glimpse at a couple of our quick and easy Halloween centers.

The students love listening to "Where's My Mummy?" at the listening center.  It's an adorable story about a little mummy who is looking for his Momma Mummy.  He bumps into all kinds of "scary" Halloween characters while he is looking for her.  None of them scare him, until he meets a little bitty mouse!  The kiddos think that is so funny!

I found this idea for a mummy craft online.  It was so simple and cute.  Ahead of time, I traced my gingerbread man pattern onto white cardstock and cut it out.  Today at the art center, the students cut napkins into strips of white paper.  Then they glued them onto their mummies.

Then they added googly eyes, and we drew a smile.  Adorable!

We also read "Say Boo!" about a little ghost who was embarrassed that he couldn't say "Boo!"  He could say "Whoo" like an owl and "Moo" like a cow, but it wasn't until he was boo-hooing in the woods about his problem that he realized he could do it.  What a great lesson about trying and trying again when things are difficult for us.

After reading, we made these symmetrical ghosts.  The students dripped white paint onto black paper, then folded it in half and "smooshed" it together.

When we opened them up, the students found their ghosts.  After they are dry, we colored some hole reinforcement stickers and turned them into ghost eyes.

We also learned this adorable poem:

We made these little ghost finger puppets using a tissue, scotch tape, and black fine point marker.  (High tech, right?!).

The kids loved reciting the poem and "boo"-ing their friends.  Giggles all around!

What Halloween fun do you have in store for your children?
