Snowflake Finger Paint

Looking for a fun, process art project that offers a rich sensory experience for your kiddos?  Look no further!

To begin, prepare (a lot of) strips of blue painters tape.  We have done this project with regular masking tape, and although it works, the painters tape is much easier.  Learn from our mistake!

Choose some paint.  We used blue glitter fingerpaint from Discount School supply.  (I snagged it for dirt cheap at the end of the NAEYC conference when all of the vendors were clearing out their booths!)  You could use any fingerpaint, and add glitter if you so desire.

The students used the painters tape to make snowflake shapes on their construction paper.  I modeled how to cross the tape "like an X" and they did a pretty good job of following the directions.

When the snowflakes were placed, the students scooped big blobs of fingerpaint onto their papers and got to work!  The glitter gives the fingerpaint an interesting texture.

This group is using masking tape.  Don't be like us.  Use the blue painters tape!

When they were done painting, we helped them peel the tape off of their papers to reveal big, bright snowflakes!

Have fun playing and learning with your children!
