Christmas Counting Games

I don't know about the kiddos in your classroom, but ours are E.X.C.I.T.E.D. about a little holiday coming up next week!  They are crawl-around-the-room, lay-under-their-snack-chairs, skip-through-centers excited!

So this week our goal is to have fun, enjoy each other and try to learn a little at the same time.  :)

Our math center is full of Christmas objects.

This number practice activity comes from Confessions of a Homeschooler.  We use it throughout the year with different manipulatives.  I found gold and silver star stickers at the craft store in the clearance bin and attached them to small squares of foam.  The students use the stars to practice number identification and counting.

Another way we practice is by "decorating" trees with small Christmas ornaments.  These are paper tree cut-outs, and I just added number stickers.  There are small baskets of "Christmas fillers" (also from the clearance bin at the craft store) that the students use to decorate the tree.  This activity is more difficult than the one I described above because it is not self-checking.

Two more days until our break!  What are you doing to keep your kiddos on track while still having fun before Christmas?
