Karen Cox at PreKinders.com has a fantastic Farm thematic unit available on her website.  One of her ideas is to write a Farm Poem.  We did this during circle time as a group.  The students voted on which farm animal we should describe.  They chose a goat.  We talked about all the things we know about goats, then got to work filling in the blanks.
I love that they remembered the "Trip-Trap" line from our fairy tale play!
After circle time, we set up the writing center with blank poems.  Many students visited the center to draw a farm animal and use describing words to tell all about it.
Preschoolers make me smile. This poem says that roosters smell "like peaches"! I love it!
This sheep smells "like lemonade." How does he know that?! I honestly have the best job in the world.
Have fun playing and learning with your children today.
