5 Favorite Spring Books

It's Here!  It's Here!  Spring is finally HERE!  We have been wearing shorts and occasionally going without coats this week.  Hooray.

To celebrate, let's look at 5 of our favorite spring books.

#1 Mouse's First Spring by Lauren Thompson
I've blogged about the Mouse's First books in other posts.  The simple text and beautiful, colorful illustrations are absolutely perfect for our youngest preschoolers.

#2 Newton and the Big Mess by Rory Tyger
My own children love Newton as much as my students do.  Newton really wants to go outside to splish-splash in the puddles with his best buddy Snappy.  When he tries to get ready, though, his problems go from bad to worse when he loses Snappy while searching for a lost rain boot.

#3 Raindrop, Plop!  by Wendy Cheyette Lewison
Preschoolers love rhyming books, and simple counting books.  This spring story has both!

#4 Wake Up, It's Spring! by Lisa Campbell Ernst
In the spring, the warm sun wakes up the Earth, the seed, the worm, and all of the other creatures who have been asleep.

#5 The Wind Blew by Pat Hutchins
I love to include great classic books into our story time routine.  This one by Pat Hutchins is perfect.  It lends itself to sequencing, and encourages students to remember all of the things that the wind has blown away.
